Photo of the Day

I didn’t realize that Islam is a non-prophet organization. ;)
Keep in mind that Libya voted in a moderate form of government, rejecting a more radical, Islamic one.
And senator McCain on the Today Show, this morning.
Okay…let the slings and arrows fly.

OK, here’s an arrow, . . . Clint Eastwood unlike the majority of Holywood, shows insight as evidenced with this statement to a complete idiot interviewing him for Esquire:
“There are two kinds of people in this world,” he said. “‘I’ people and ‘we’ people. I’ve always tried to be a ‘we’ person. I think that our president is an ‘I’ person. He speaks as though he killed Osama bin Laden himself.”
More evidence of narcissism? . . . Obama told his crowd of worshipping geniuses in Las Vegas yesterday, IT WAS A BAD DAY, referring to the assassinations in Libya. Wow, a Bad Day.

I would point out that we, as Americans, rarely see this from places in the ME. And maybe, as I said to Tom, it’s because scenes like this don’t play as well on the news as the scenes of the protesting against the US. Or maybe it’s because we tend to be blind to it when it is shown. I don’t know.
It seems likely, although some may not want to admit it, that there are, indeed, ‘moderate’ muslims who don’t condone violence towards anyone. Much like the animal rights groups, or environmental groups around the world, you have your groups who just want to inform, and you have your violent extremists. Or those against abortion. You have those who want to change viewpoints by information and discussion, and you have those few extremists willing to kill. Again, it is likely, given how groups are aligned on issues, that you have a majority of those living peaceful co-existence, even in disagreement, and those willing to commit the ultimate atrocities in the name of their religion, or viewpoint.
Time, for myself, will tell if these people, in the pictures, are the majority. Or if they are a minority, as it seems, by the news we see, that they are. When one considers the violent protests and outbursts from that area of the world, and indeed, even in the US from groups such as CAIR, it is hard to see past that to what may be the actual truth in majority of that religion.

Yet the MB is still a powerful part of their government, is it not? Jabril is just a figurehead president and Mustafa Abu Shagour of the MB is the prime minister.
I honestly hope the people of Libya take control of their government and kick the MB out. But I don’t see it happening.

Homonyms can be humorous, even tragic. It is easy to draw conclusions from the actions of two thousand and apply them to the consensus of two million, and that can be a tragic misconception; however, there are some obvious malefactors at play here. Obama and Hillary relied on foreign security for the security of our embassy and we have heard no reports of injuries or deaths among the security detail. The Libyan army also managed to stay away from the attack and made no effort to protect our embassy and personnel. The army and politicians represent a much larger group than the two thousand barbarians.
Clinton was caught flat footed with her knickers around her ankles and wondering how her lover’s wonderful associates could do this to America, after we gave them a leg-up to power. The Muslim Brotherhood will have many other surprises for us and Israel, especially after Obama has given them so much money to buy arms. Yes, our Secretary of State is responsible for the security of our embassies and her Muslim Brotherhood spy and advisor, Huma is merely doing her job.

I am one of those who “admit it” and believe majority Muslims in the world are peaceful. Many of these are also the ones slaughtered by their more violent, perpetually outraged brethren.

Yes. And the new government in its infancy is fragile.

I’ve read some of the things Stevens was saying about Libya, plus he seemed to be very well respected by repubs and dems. I have no faith or trust in the MB at all. But in the end it is up to the people of Libya.

This event is just the beginning of the surprises our naive administration will suffer….just from the Libyan stockpiles there are still 5000 Soviet shoulder fired AA rockets and many tons of chemical weapons to surface somewhere in the world. My guess would be some western airliners flying into Lebanon, Turkey, Libyan or UK airports will land as a flaming ball.

I am going to take a wild guess and say the attack was made with weapons the United States supplied some months ago to insurgents In Libya. I don’t think this is the end, but the beginning. These people will push the envelope as far as they can to see what it will take for barry to act. They know his allegiance belongs to them (he did state that in his very own autobiography) so it is all a test. My guess is, he will throw the United States and all she stands for under the bus all in the next New York minute.

I saw that photo yesterday and immediately thought those are sincere people.
One of the news channels also had some video of this type of demonstration. (Maybe the same demonstration.)
There are moderate Muslims all over Libya.
Their moderate new leader, Mahmoud Jibril, took about a 3-to-1 victory over his MB competitor.
His view of the other parties running against him?
    “There are no extremists.”
But this photo is really of moderates.
    Note the colors of headcovers.
In extremist populations all their headcovers are black.
The races of the group are mixed, not all females shoved off to one place, as extremists do.
The members of this group are not afraid of their extremist neighbors to any extent.
I read somewhere that many Libyans in big cities understand English.
Maybe not so much the spelling.
The sentiment is appreciated, these men who died were good people.

Is it letting an arrow fly to state that, if this website is any barometer, there is a disproportionate amount of hatred for Muslims on the Right compared to, oh, anyone else? Is it stupid one of the reasons I sleep well at night is because other liberals don’t try to convince me its my duty to hate Obama because he’s a secret Muslim?

    O’Malley,
I think when pro-abortion liberals mock conservatives for hypocrisy by supporting the death penalty while also claiming to be “pro-life”, they miss the point: Death penalty for guilty criminals and protection of innocent life.
Where I think Kevin’s point holds more water in this instance is that there are a couple of comments in this thread that seem to suggest that the very act of being Muslim is grounds for death and reverse hatred.

“straw man”? Have I mis-characterized the sentiments expressed in e.g. comments #16 and #17. Please let me know how I’ve done so. Or do you feel I’m incorrect in my assessment of the commenters as people who identify as “pro-life”?
Wordsmith – for the record, I think you may be edging the red-herring into the conversation. It should be self-evident how my response to “carpet bombing” is utterly independent of my stance on “Death penalty for guilty criminals”.

It’s not so much about your stance on the death penalty as it is a reference to the liberal bumpersticker line about people who call themselves pro-life yet support the death penalty- as if there’s a contradiction there.

So I’ve been reading the comments and I’ve learned that some of the Lybian people speak English, some are moderate Muslims and the picture might be a fake.
    Well, I don’t care.
They have committed and act of war, hundreds of shoulder fired missiles are floating around and chemical weapons are missing.
The only solution is to destroy Lybya and not rebuild it or help it into the 21st century. It is not incumbent on us to free every people from the clutches of evil men. But it is our responsibility to protect our own citizens from being killed by fifth century barbarians on our own soil and make no mistake, that was our soil. I don’t think we should invade like we did, the last time, in 1801. What we should do is light off an EMP device over Lybia and systematically destroy every vestige of modern life. We should hunt down the missles, chemical weapons and destroy them and the men that would use them. After this is complete we should blockade the harbors and make the entire country a no help zone. Call it , hmmmmmm, war until we receive an unconditional surrender.
In the meantime maybe our next President can assure the public that our first admendment rights are intact and people that make harmless videos will not be hunted down in the middle of the night and marked for execution by Jihadies.

So all practicing Muslims have the Wahhabi/salafi/Taliban/Qutbist outlook and puritanical, fundamentalist interpretation? There are no practicing Muslims who see Islam through a different lens? They can’t possibly be true adherents to their faith, otherwise without the selective Robert Spencerian reading of the Quran?
